Tony Connor, Parks and Recreation Director, presented the proposed building and staff said the item is included in the current budget. The council discussed the engineer’s estimate; a councilmember asked “what did the bid come in at?” and staff replied “the engineer's estimate is at $1.60,” without specifying the unit or whether that figure reflects millions, thousands or another unit in the meeting transcript.
Staff explained the process is to advertise this week, receive bids in about three to four weeks and bring recommendations back to council; if bids are successful, construction would be timed to avoid the active season and completion is projected in 2026. The roll-call vote approving the specifications was recorded as all “yes” from Councilmembers Britney; Ross; Ken; Bobby; Jordan; Tom; and Doctor David.
