GPED: Marquette deal, AES solar and DOE site work could bring jobs and investment to Paducah area

Bruce Wilcox, a representative of Greater Paducah Economic Development (GPED), told the McCracken County Fiscal Court on May 27 that the agency has advanced several projects that it says could add jobs and capital investment to the Paducah area.
Wilcox said Marquette Transportation purchased about a 5-acre tract in Commerce Park, and that the company will bring about 55 jobs and roughly $5,000,000 in capital investment. "We anticipate utilizing the IMPLAN economic modeling software that that project is to have over an $18,300,000 recurring annual economic benefit to the community," Wilcox said.
Wilcox also reported work with AES Energy on a roughly $130,000,000 solar project in the Keble area. He said the project was granted a rezoning and a conditional-use permit and has an off-take agreement with Walmart. "It's about a $130,000,000 capital investment. It'll be 2 permanent full-time jobs.
