Clark County Public Schools honors students, staff and innovation programs

Clark County Public Schools trustees recognized a series of student and staff achievements, including state-qualifying high school fishing teams, elementary track state records, perfect ACT scores and scholarship awards, at a board meeting during the district's recognition segment.
The recognitions highlighted a range of accomplishments across the district. "We're thrilled to announce that five GRC high school teams have earned their spot in the state competition on Rough River," said Mister Goob, who introduced the student honorees. The board called forward students including Bentley Purcell who were named as representatives of their schools.
The district also recognized 22 elementary athletes who competed at the state track meet in Goshen, Kentucky, and singled out Raylan Bell of Baker Intermediate for breaking three state records in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and long jump. "This is a historic accomplishment as it has never happened before at the elementary level," the presenter said.
Academic recognitions included an in-person acknowledgement of a student who scored a 36 on the ACT. The board also recognized two recent graduates awarded merit scholarships and military-affiliated scholarships: Cooper Wasson, who received a full four-year ROTC scholarship, and Samuel Snyder, who received a three-year Bennett Mann scholarship through the Army Reserves; both plan to attend Colorado State University and serve with the Colorado National Guard.
The meeting closed the recognitions portion by honoring staff and the Cardinal Innovation Center programs. The board noted the Cardinal Innovation Center's work serving more than 350 students across programs described as Phoenix Academy, Cardinal Virtual Academy and STEM initiatives. The "Trailblazer" award was presented to Kelly Hagan for contributions to the district.
No board action was required for the recognitions; they were presented as ceremonial acknowledgments.
