Beecher trustees approve five-year Axon training agreement for VR Taser skills

Trustee Terry moved and the board approved a five-year purchase agreement with Axon Enterprise to acquire a Taser Skills 2 full VR bundle for a total of $7,152, with an annual fee of $1,430.40 to be paid from the police training budget each fiscal year.
The item was presented during the Public Safety Committee report. "I'd like to consider a motion approving a 5 year purchase agreement with Axon Enterprise for the taser skills, 2 full VR bundle in a total amount of $7,152. Our annual fee is $1,430.40 which will be coming out of the police training budget each fiscal year," Trustee Terry said before calling for a vote.
Trustees discussed whether the purchase included data storage. "Does that include, the storage of the data? Or is that just for the since just for the equipment, the training?" asked Trustee Smith. The board recorded an answer that storage is part of the body-camera system and that this purchase was only for training equipment.
The motion received a second and passed on roll call with all voting trustees recorded as yes. The board did not amend the purchase terms at the meeting.
The board did not set a separate implementation timeline in public discussion; staff will carry out procurement and payment from the police training budget as described.
Trustee Terry asked the board to schedule any committee follow-up if further review of training integration with the body-camera system is needed.
