The Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors voted to accept the resignation of board member Neil Desnoirs effective May 29, 2025, and authorized administrators to advertise the vacancy and solicit applications.
Under the resolution read into the record, the board directed the administration to advertise the opening in a newspaper of general circulation, set an application deadline of June 13, 2025 at 12 p.m., and hold candidate interviews on June 17 at 5 p.m., with an anticipated appointment at the conclusion of the special voting meeting on June 17.
The action follows the board’s adoption, by voice vote, of the resolution that cited board policy 004 and the accompanying operating guidelines as the procedures governing the vacancy advertisement and appointment timeline.
Vice President Murphy Morrissey praised Desnoirs’s service, saying, “We appreciate all the work that you put into your position over the years. We know that you made sound good decisions, with the community at heart.” Representative Gina H. Curry read a letter from her office acknowledging Desnoirs’s seven years of service and writing, “We are truly thankful for your service.”
Board members also offered brief public tributes during the meeting; several described Desnoirs’s policy work and community service and encouraged continued contact after his departure. The board did not take additional action beyond authorizing the vacancy advertisement and setting the application and interview dates.
The district’s public-comment rules (board policy 903) and the resolution text require candidates to submit a name, general address and materials per the board’s advertisement. The administration will return to the board with applications for review and conduct interviews as scheduled.
