The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners announced on May 20 that Robert Donadio resigned from the county Redevelopment Authority, creating a volunteer vacancy on the five-member board.
Commissioners said Donadio, a retired banker from Shenango Township who previously chaired the authority, submitted a resignation that will require the board to solicit applicants and appoint a replacement to serve the unexpired term. The commissioners said redevelopment-authority appointments are governed by county ordinance and that they must publicly announce the vacancy at two meetings before making an appointment.
Interested residents may submit a letter or email expressing interest or speak at a public meeting, the commissioners said. They added that applicants are subject to a criminal background check as part of the appointment process. The commissioners said the typical term for authority members is five years and that staff will confirm how much of Donadio’s term remains before the board votes on a replacement in the coming weeks.
No motion to appoint a replacement was taken at the May 20 meeting; commissioners said they will repeat the public announcement at the June 3 meeting and then proceed based on the pool of applicants.
