Newcastle Public Library seeks county support for laptops, book locker and park repairs

Neri said the federated library system applied for 50 laptops through the county’s digital connectivity program, has a proposal for a book locker in Shenango Township Community Park and plans requests related to the Cascade Park carousel-building renovation. The federated system includes the Newcastle Public Library, Elkhart City Library and F.D. Campbell Memorial Library in North Beaver Township.
Commissioners thanked the library staff and said they would sign support letters; one commissioner noted he had already signed one form and would complete additional signatures later. Commissioners praised library staff and a long‑serving employee, Chris Fabian, who recently marked 40 years at the library.
No formal vote was required; this portion of the meeting served as public comment and acknowledgement of requests. Library staff were invited to follow up with the commissioners’ office for signature logistics.
