Longtime Westfield resident urges caution on construction, traffic and preservation

"I'm not against progress at all. But you gotta do it the right way," Shuck said, noting that her home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and that traffic delays have affected access to schools and a hospital. She described school buses using alternate routes and said morning and afternoon traffic lines still form around the roundabout.
Shuck said she has attended meetings and spoken with city leaders about the changes and asked the council to "be very, very careful" in planning future development to preserve Westfield history and manage traffic impacts. The council did not take formal action during the public-comment period; staff and councilors have ongoing development and traffic items on the agenda that will return for further review.
