Board awards summer paving contracts for three elementary schools; one member recuses

The Monongalia County Board of Education approved contracts May 27 for summer paving work at three elementary schools.
The superintendent recommended and the board awarded Mountain View Elementary’s paving contract to Wolf Landscape Plus for $111,916 and Skyview Elementary’s paving contract to Wolf Landscape Plus for $152,969. A smaller paving project at Mason Dixon Elementary was awarded to Pirotta Paving for $21,000.
The board voted on the items after a motion and second. One board member recused themself from the vote because of a business relationship with a vendor; the vice president assumed presiding duties during that item. The board recorded the motion as carried.
