Commissioners and Discover Flagstaff staff reported results from a recent community trash pickup. Staff presented final weights: 226 pounds of trash, 31 pounds of recycling and 10 pounds of glass and metal, for a combined total of 268 pounds collected. Staff noted that the total included heavyweight items such as shopping carts; without carts the pickup still represented the largest single haul the group has recorded.
Why it matters: Volunteer cleanups support downtown and visitor corridors, reducing litter and improving visitor experience.
Commissioners and staff thanked volunteers and Discover Flagstaff team members who participated. Staff said they will continue organizing periodic cleanups and will share photos and social posts to promote the work.
No formal action was required or taken at the meeting.
