Resident urges Saratoga County to enforce clean‑indoor‑air rules, requests asthma program

Darlene McGraw of Saratoga County addressed the Board of Supervisors on May 20 during public privilege, urging stronger enforcement of indoor and outdoor smoking rules at county facilities and asking the county to consider an asthma program for residents affected by secondhand smoke.
McGraw said she initially contacted her assembly member seeking protections for indoor spaces and referenced the Clean Indoor Air Act. She said she encountered people smoking and vaping near county social services entrances and asked county deputies to intervene. "I had to walk through people smoking and vaping even though it clearly said no smoking," McGraw said.
McGraw also thanked first responders, public health officials and the district attorney for attention given to a prior concern, and requested an asthma program aimed at people exposed to secondhand smoke and similar triggers. "I really, really appreciate all you do because a lot of you guys that are here in this county are volunteer," she said.
The comments were delivered during the meeting’s public‑comment period; no formal board action was taken during the session in response to her request.
