Citizens LDC Task Force extended to June 13 after contentious meetings; commissioners urge civility

A task-force member, Peter Brankich, spoke in favor of the extension and said the group needs more time to incorporate NOAA rainfall data into sediment-control calculations. He told the board staff had shared data and asked the task force to check their email replies.
Why it matters: The Citizens LDC Task Force is reviewing technical and policy elements of the county’s Land Development Code. Members said unresolved topics—including stormwater and sedimentation analysis—require additional technical review before recommendations can be completed.
Some commissioners criticized the task force’s tone in recent meetings. Commissioner Colton Wright said he was "disgusted" by unproductive behavior during one session and urged participants to "be adults and work together." Commissioner Eddington suggested that if the task force cannot make progress the board itself could consider making changes directly.
The board voted (by unanimous consent at the committee meeting) to move the extension to Thursday's consent agenda; the extension was presented as a noncontroversial administrative scheduling change, but commissioners emphasized the need for constructive conduct to complete the work.
Discussion versus decision: The committee moved the scheduling extension to the consent agenda for formal approval at the regular meeting. No changes to the task force's charge were made at the committee level.
Next steps: The task force will meet again May 30 and June 13; staff will continue to provide technical materials, and commissioners urged civility during public proceedings so the group can finish recommendations.
