The Gateway School District Board approved a slate of resolutions at its meeting, including professional services addenda, program renewals, memoranda of understanding and acceptance of a PA Smart grant totaling $450,000.
The resolutions the administration presented and the board approved included: adoption of science curriculum for grades 3-5; a marketing and strategic communications services addendum; renewal of Eduplanet services; an agreement between Gateway School District and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit; agreements with Adelphi Education Services and Turtle Creek Valley providers; an independent contractor agreement with Kara McGowey; approval of the System 1-2-3 proposal; an MOU with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for Title 3 consortium grant initiatives; approval of before- and after-school academy programs for 2025-26; approval of Policy 217 (graduation requirements); and acceptance of a PA Smart grant in the amount of $450,000.
During the meeting a board member asked for additional explanation about how programs such as "System 1-2-3," Turtle Creek Valley and other contracted services interrelate; administration said it would explain those connections at an upcoming curriculum and equity committee meeting.
Board members also discussed parental notification and enrollment logistics for the before- and after-school program: administration confirmed parents will be contacted by the third-party operators and the district will assist with facilitation. The resolutions package was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Recorded votes for the Section 7 items included: Miss Dwayne ' Aye; Missus McBride ' Aye; Miss Bogut ' Aye; Mister Ritter ' Aye; Doctor Singh ' Aye; Missus Boyce ' Aye; Mister Bobo ' Aye; Missus Burns ' Aye.
The board also approved supplemental staffing and volunteer listings and several personnel items by roll call earlier in the meeting.
