Orange City Council certifies May election, swears in three council members
Summary
The City Council canvassed the May 3, 2025 general election, declared winners for three council seats and administered the oath of office to the newly elected members.
The Orange City Council on May 20 formally canvassed the returns from the May 3 general election and declared Brad Childs, Mary McKenna and George Mortimer elected to council seats.
Mayor Larry Spruce Jr read a resolution that listed the canvassed vote totals and the council then adopted the resolution by voice vote. The council also administered certificates of election and swore in the three members during the meeting.
The resolution recited that returns had been canvassed and that the named candidates received a majority of the votes. The council then presented certificates and administered the oath of office to Brad Childs for Place 2, Mary McKenna for Place 4 and George Mortimer for Place 5 at large.
Council members and family members were given time for photographs after the ceremony. The council scheduled the formal welcome and seating as part of the regular meeting proceedings.
