Albany City commission seeks applicants as vacancies near expiration

The Albany City Commission on Unintelligible discussed recruitment for open seats during its May 21 meeting and noted that the Common Council has posted a call for applicants on the city website.
Commission members said the commission currently has a vacancy and several terms nearing expiration. Chair York said staff will check with the council office to see whether any applications have been received and will report back.
The matter arose under old business after the commission approved its March minutes. Commissioner Guelph moved to approve the minutes; Commissioner Evert seconded the motion, which passed on a voice vote. No public comments were offered on the recruitment matter.
Members asked for clarity about which seats expire and when; one speaker noted a September expiration for at least one term. Staff committed to checking application receipts and to coordinating with the council’s recruitment process.
The commission also asked that Tatiana Diaz present the recruitment plan at a forthcoming meeting; Diaz is scheduled to appear as part of upcoming meeting materials. The group did not take a formal vote on appointments during the session.
Commission members directed staff to follow up with the Common Council and to report back at a future meeting so the commission can consider applicants before terms expire.
