Staff member Jessica McCabe and other planning staff said the venue is spacious and that lunch will be provided. McKenzie (planning staff) asked council members to email suggested topics to Jessica in advance. A councilmember noted potential scheduling conflicts with regional events (one attendee mentioned the Austin Rodeo on March 15 and spring-break timing) while another said they would “pencil in” Feb. 8 and confirm availability by January.
Staff said the retreat is intended to allow council and commission members to step away from daily duties, get to know each other outside the dais, and revisit a previously developed work plan that has been shelved amid staffing changes. The venue was described as the Wastewater Treatment Conference Room on the future water-treatment-plant site; staff clarified it is a spacious room and that there is no odor at the facility.
Staff asked members to forward topics they want covered; they said they will meet internally to draft an agenda for the retreat. No formal action beyond scheduling was taken at the meeting.
