Fairhope City Council authorized multiple routine resolutions including letters of support for community and broadband projects and several contract approvals.
The council authorized the mayor to write a letter of support for the Baldwin County Trail Blazers to establish a Kids in Parks track trail at the Flying Creek Nature Preserve and make kiosk updates along the Eastern Shore Trail. The council also approved a separate resolution authorizing the mayor to write a letter of support for Light Fiber LLC for its subaward grant application through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) broadband grant program.
On procurement items the council approved an award for labor and materials to Shepherd Services for the installation of two motors and the reconditioning of two library chiller pumps for a project cost not to exceed $8,414.72. The council also authorized a contract with Genesis Industrial Staffing to supply temporary employees for sanitation work and approved a $50,000 transfer from sanitation salaries to a temporary contract labor fund to pay for those services.
Finally, the council approved a contract with Vital Exam LLC to perform NFPA-compliant physical examinations and testing for volunteer firefighters and employees; the meeting materials indicated those services are exempt under the Code of Alabama as noted in the packet.
