Summary
The Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plat to allow the City of Beaumont to accept maintenance of a private drive east of A Road north of Baker Road after staff said the plat meets city standards.
The Beaumont Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plat on May 19 to allow the City of Beaumont to accept a private drive and associated infrastructure east of A Road and north of Baker Road in the AJ Fasulo Estates subdivision.
City planning staff told the commission that Scott Holloman and the heirs of AJ Fasulo Estates originally requested city acceptance in 2021, and the city engaged Whiteley Infrastructure Group to prepare a plat after council conditioned final acceptance on submission of a licensed surveyor's plat. Planning staff said the submitted plat complies with city standards and recommended approval; 19 property owners were notified, and staff reported four in favor and none in opposition.
Tom Roe of Whiteley Infrastructure Group told the commission the road has existed as a private drive for years, that homeowners had been granted easements, and that the platting is intended to create a public right-of-way so the city can take over maintenance and perform rehabilitation. Planning staff confirmed there is a drainage easement along the easterly line.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval, and the motion carried. Commissioners did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript.
The commission's approval lets the city proceed toward final acceptance once the required plat documents are filed with planning staff and city council conditions are satisfied. The item was presented to planning staff and Whiteley Infrastructure Group; the applicants were not present at the microphone. The commission's action was procedural acceptance of the submitted plat and does not by itself commit city crews to immediate repairs until formal acceptance steps and any necessary rehabilitation work proceed.
