Council names Zach Smith mayor pro tem; Luke Williams takes library liaison role

Following the May election, the Weatherford City Council appointed Zach Smith as mayor pro tem and designated Luke Williams as the council liaison to the Weatherford Public Library; the council approved the slate by voice vote.
The Weatherford City Council on Tuesday approved a slate of liaison assignments and selected Councilmember Zach Smith as mayor pro tem. Council also reassigned the library-board liaison role to Councilmember Luke Williams.
Councilmember Matt Tiscus moved the slate, and Heidi Wilder seconded. Tiscus praised Wilder’s six years of service as mayor pro tem while recommending Smith for the role because of his daytime availability for public-facing events and to “train the next generation of leaders.” Smith accepted the nomination and asked Wilder to help mentor him in the new role.
The council also approved Williams as the library board liaison; councilmembers said Williams’s family connections to Weatherford Independent School District made him a good match for the position. The motion passed on a council vote.
