Lebanon Parks: Seashore Waterpark opens partially; Summerfest set for late May

John Messager, director of parks and recreation, told the Lebanon Board of Public Works and Safety that the parks department finished downtown flower planting, installed ADA-compliant mulch at two parks and completed storm cleanup.
Messager said Seashore Waterpark and the splash pad opened partially for the weekend because of cooler temperatures and that staff used shadow shifts to prepare for full operation as weather warms. He thanked the clerk’s office for onboarding about 70 seasonal staff and said swim-lesson sessions in June are full with limited openings in later sessions.
Messager reviewed upcoming events: Lions Club hoagie sale, TriKappa/Rotary strawberry shortcake on June 6, an annual Buick-Olds-Pontiac-Cadillac car show on June 7, Kiwanis fishing derby and other community gatherings. He said the park team installed military banners for Memorial Day and that weddings and other rentals continue.
On community events, Community Development staff outlined Boone County Summerfest scheduled for Friday and Saturday (the end of May). The festival will feature increased vendor space, musical acts and a Saturday-only pickleball activity. Messager said a Lebanon “story booth,” funded by an Indiana Arts Commission grant, will have a soft unveiling at Summerfest and later receive a public unveiling with refreshments.
No formal board action was required for the parks briefing.
