Rosie Muschino, executive director of the Weatherford Housing Authority, told the council the authority “will be the leader in assisting qualifying residents within our community.” April Leppler, vice chair of the housing authority board, said the board has revised the authority’s mission and vision, developed a pay plan, created evaluation methods for the executive director and worked to maximize resources including leveraging interns.
Staff reported the housing authority receives “a little over 4,000,000 from the federal government,” and that the housing choice voucher program saw an average monthly increase of $49,600 in rental assistance in 2024, which the authority said allowed it to serve roughly 10 additional families per month. The authority emphasized that voucher participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and that the authority does not own rental property; it administers the vouchers for eligible households.
Board members acknowledged collaboration with community organizations and expressed optimism about 2025 program operations. Council members thanked agency representatives for the update and requested copies of the presentation for the record.
