Lebanon Fire: 167 emergency calls, training milestones and a 25-year retirement noted

Lebanon Fire Chief Baths told the Board of Public Works and Safety that Lebanon Fire responded to 167 emergency calls since the last meeting and logged 345 training hours.
Chief Baths reported department participation in public-education events, 102 commercial inspections and assistance with two TAC meetings. He listed officers and staff who completed outside training: firefighter Josiah Heath attended Indiana safety officer training; Lanny Mitchell attended an Indiana child-safety-seat conference; Blake Gaylor continued Indiana Task Force 1 confined-space training; and Chief Baths and deputy chiefs Young and Hendrix completed Indiana Fire Officer IV certification.
The chief updated the board on hiring: Mayor Gentry, Judge McClure and a board member conducted interviews of top candidates; two finalists will complete polygraph testing next week. He also noted Captain Sam Doherty was serving as a counselor at Hoosier Burn Camp.
Chief Baths paid tribute to firefighter Brett Klingler, who retired after 25 years of service; Klingler’s last shift was Sunday, May 20. The chief said a five-person hiring class would staff the city’s new fire station on Anderson Lane.
Board members offered congratulations on Klingler’s service. No formal personnel action was taken at the meeting.
