Chilton County approves Central Access contract for animal control; shelter receives DEA license

The Chilton County Commission approved a contract with Central Access for services at the county animal control building and heard an update on animal shelter operations.
County staff presented Central Access subscription options and said Brock in IT recommended the Business Pro package, which staff described as “ample” even if the county later adds more security cameras. Commissioners voted to enter the contract and authorized the chairman to sign; the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Childress provided an update on the county animal shelter and congratulated Director Christina Bolick for preparations for a Veterinary Board of Medicine visit. “The shelter has received the DEA license and the ability to… stock and order the controlled substances,” Childress said, and noted the shelter now has a lead certified euthanasia technician to complete required training hours.
Childress said the state veterinary board’s recent visit found improvements compared with an inspection approximately six months earlier. Commissioners did not take additional formal action beyond approving the Central Access contract and noting the shelter update.
The commission also approved consent-agenda items earlier that included several animal-control staffing actions (new hires and temporary hires) that will support shelter operations.
