Commission awards $2,400 to Bridgeport High thespian troupe to fund students’ trip to international festival

The Harrison County Commission approved a $2,400 special funding request to the Bridgeport High School Thespian Troupe 7549 to assist students in need attending the International Thespian Festival at Indiana University Bloomington from June 23–28, 2025.
Trina Bayard, artistic director for Bridgeport High School Theater and director of Thespian Troupe 7549, told the commission the troupe advanced through district and state competitions and was selected as the single chapter play representing West Virginia at the international festival. She said approximately 30 students will attend and the requested county funds were intended to help a few students with demonstrated financial need.
Commissioners moved to grant the $2,400 request as presented; the motion carried without recorded opposition.
