Public works outlines bulk-pickup rules and reports sanitation and recycling tonnages

Council member Matthew Hirsch reminded residents that bulk pickup is by appointment only, with a limit of two scheduled collections per household each year; bulk pickups will also occur townwide without appointment on Sept. 17 and Sept. 19. He said materials may be placed at the curb no sooner than one hour before sundown the day before scheduled pickup and that improperly prepared or unscheduled items will not be collected. He provided a Public Works phone number for scheduling.
Hirsch provided DPW data showing 311 tons of trash collected over eight collection days in the month, and a year-to-date total of 1,223 tons. Recycling totals for the month were 93 tons over nine collection days, with a year-to-date recycling total of 326.29 tons collected and delivered to a paper stock company in Brunswick. He encouraged residents to secure materials and to consult the borough website for acceptable-item lists.
