River Falls council renews multiple liquor and beer licenses; removes Bo John's from list

The River Falls City Council held a public hearing on liquor licenses and voted to renew multiple combination Class A and Class B liquor and beer licenses contingent on meeting licensing requirements, city clerk White said.
Clerk White asked each new agent the same three questions in open session. Addressing the two new agents named Dwayne and Natalie, she asked whether they understood the role of an agent, whether they possessed a responsible server certificate and whether they understood that "if an alcohol related violation occurs and even if you're not there, you're the one at fault." Both said yes. Clerk White said, "Thank you. That's all I have for that." (transcript excerpt)
The council removed Bo John's from the renewal list after the clerk noted the agent was not in attendance. For the motion to grant renewal of the combination Class A liquor and Class A beer licenses the motion was made and seconded (mover Downing, second Bierstead), and councilmember Carroll abstained because of an employer conflict; the chair then called for the ayes and the motion passed.
Subsequent motions to renew combination Class B liquor and beer licenses and class B beer licenses were also moved, seconded and carried, with no recorded opposition.
Clerk White emphasized the contingent nature of renewals: approvals were "contingent that all licensing requirements are met at the time of issuance." The council did not debate changes to licensing rules during the hearing.
