County approves affordable‑housing agreement for Asensia Subdivision Phase 3, securing 18 affordable units

The Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners on May 27 approved an affordable housing agreement for Asensia Subdivision Phase 3 (subphases 3A and 3B). County planning staff said the board had approved the preliminary and final subdivision plat at a May 13 hearing; Phase 3A contains 68 single‑family lots with 10 affordable dwellings and Phase 3B contains 50 single‑family lots with eight affordable dwellings, satisfying the developer's affordable housing obligation.
Kenneth Quintana of the community development department presented the agreement and told the board staff recommends approval. The board voted to approve the affordable housing agreement; Commissioner Justin Green requested that the county track completed affordable units over time so the board can monitor when units are built and keys are transferred to households. Kenneth Quintana said historic recorded agreements are being reviewed and future agreements will be tracked in the county's tracking system.
Commissioners thanked staff for the work and the motion to approve carried with no recorded opposition.
