The Borough of South River administered oaths of office to fire department leaders at its Jan. 1 meeting.

Scott Wolf was sworn in as first assistant fire chief, Steven Rudolph was sworn in as second assistant fire chief, and William Smith took the oath as South River Fire Chief. The oath language, read during the meeting, included pledges to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the constitution of New Jersey and to "faithfully, impartially and justly perform all the duties" of each office.

The borough clerk handled the administrative readings for the oaths. The transcript records the ceremonial oaths and the clerk's direction but does not include a separate council motion or vote recorded on the appointments at the meeting.
