District 128 board approves routine intergovernmental agreements, indemnification and treasurer’s bond

Community High School District 128’s board on May 19 approved a slate of routine administrative and intergovernmental items, including agreements to share specialized staff with neighboring districts, an annual indemnification agreement with Lake County, and the district treasurer’s bond.
The board approved intergovernmental agreements: one with District 120 for itinerant hearing services and another with Districts 70 and 120 for physical-therapy services. District staff said the agreements mirror prior-year arrangements and enable the districts to share specialized positions and avoid duplicative hiring.
The board also approved the annual Lake County indemnification agreement; district staff described it as a standing arrangement under which Lake County withholds permits for certain developments unless the district confirms there is no objection, and the county seeks indemnification from the district in the event of litigation. The staff said the agreement has not been used in recent memory.
Dan Stanley presented the treasurer’s bond coverage, explaining state law requires bonding for the treasurer. The board approved coverage of $11,000,000 with a premium of $6,600, which Stanley said is based on 10% of the district’s most recent June 30 balance.
The board also approved routine employment items that had not been included on the consent agenda and then approved the consent vote agenda itself by roll call. All items were approved with recorded roll-call votes and no amendments were introduced at the May 19 meeting.
