District 128 board signs off on consolidated district plan so it can apply for federal grants

Community High School District 128’s board on May 19 approved its coordinated consolidated district plan, a procedural document required by the Illinois State Board of Education before districts may apply for federal Title and special education grants for fiscal 2026.
Dan Stanley, district finance staff, described the plan as a “coordinated district plan” intended to ensure district departments and local partners do not duplicate grant-funded activities and to outline how the district will use federal Title and special needs funds. Stanley told the board that the plan’s proposed uses are substantially the same as in prior years and that the board’s approval is required before the district files grant applications.
Board member Lisa Hessel moved to approve the FY2025–26 consolidated district plan; a second was recorded and the board approved the plan by roll call. District staff said they will update the document with current figures and return with fuller analysis before final budget adoption.
The consolidated plan is an administrative requirement; the board’s action enables district administrators to proceed with federal grant applications for the coming fiscal year. No new programs or significant changes to grant-funded uses were introduced at the May 19 meeting.
