Resident urges Livonia to open Bicentennial Park restrooms; council asks administration for restroom schedule

A Livonia resident asked the council to allocate budget to open a restroom structure at Benzolini Bicentennial Park that she said has been locked for about two years and only opens when the pavilion is rented.
"When I called the city, they said it's only open when the pavilion is rented out," Judy Weiser told the council during audience communication. She said the play structure serves mostly children under 5 and recommended leaving restrooms open daily during park hours, "maybe, like, 9 to 8."
Council members acknowledged the concern and asked the administration to provide a parks restroom schedule that lists which parks have restrooms, when they are open, and how those open/close decisions are made. Council member Budzinski said she would ask administration to provide the schedule to council so members could review and request further action if needed.
Council did not take a formal vote on funding at the meeting. The clerk and parks staff were asked to follow up with the resident and to produce the requested restroom schedule for council review.
