The City Council approved a special-use waiver to allow construction of a 2,117-square-foot full-service oil-change facility at 27410 Joy Road, at the northwest corner of Joy and Inkster.
Council member Donovan said the proposed project replaces a long-vacant corner and will be a "much needed project" for the site. The petitioner had worked with neighbors and addressed outstanding concerns raised at a prior meeting, Donovan said.
Public comment included a request for clarification about taxes; Christopher Martin and others noted taxes related to the property had been addressed. Council thanked the petitioner for paying outstanding taxes prior to closing and for pursuing redevelopment of the lot.
Council approved the waiver 6-0. The approval allows the petitioner to proceed with planning and building permits in accordance with city conditions and standard development-review procedures. Any conditions attached by the planning commission will remain applicable during permitting.
