Levy County schools report zero findings in latest round of safety audits

Adam Gordon reported to the Levy County School Board that the district’s recent safety audits found no deficiencies in the seven schools reviewed this quarter.
“We audited 7 schools, this quarter, and there was 0 findings in those 7 schools,” Gordon said, noting the audits covered safety and security compliance.
Gordon told the board the number of audits has risen this year as state oversight has expanded. “The most audits we’ve received in 1 school year was 4. We’re at 18 this year,” he said, and added the Department of Education and related safe-schools oversight now have more compliance personnel assigned to the region, increasing the frequency of visits.
Gordon said he welcomes the scrutiny and credited school administrators and maintenance staff for being responsive to safety needs. He singled out maintenance supervisor Mr. Stockman, thanking him for quick responses to security-related repairs after recent issues with a door: “Anytime we have a, you know, any kind of security issue that revolves around, safety. He is always quick to jump on it.”
Gordon said the district expects audit activity to continue and possibly increase as state efforts expand into areas such as rent-management processes and other compliance areas; no formal board action was required on the report.
Board members had no recorded questions or formal motions on the safety report; the item was presented as an informational quarterly update.
