City Manager Bill Burrow said the Board of Directors will consider acceptance of a state grant for hangar roof repairs at Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport at its June 3 meeting.
The award from the Arkansas Division of Aeronautics was approved on May 21 as an 80/20 grant, Airport Director Don Rowlett said. “The total project was 40,200 and the local amount is 8,040,” Rowlett said, referring to the city’s 20% share. The acceptance will be tied to a budget amendment to cover the local match and is listed on the consent agenda.
Why it matters: the airport director said the city applied earlier and had anticipated the grant might be reduced to a 50/50 award; staff notified the board when the 80/20 approval was confirmed. The grant and associated budget amendment affect airport maintenance funding and are scheduled for formal board action at the June 3 meeting.
Details: staff said the city applied under a resolution approved April 15 that authorized the airport to apply for state aeronautics funds. The exact resolution number for acceptance appearing on the board agenda is R25106. No final board vote on the acceptance or amendment was recorded in the agenda-review discussion.
Board process: the item is placed on the consent agenda for the June 3 meeting, meaning it will be considered with other routine items unless a director pulls it for separate discussion.
