The Madison Board of Education rescinded two existing student-travel policies and approved a package of new and revised policies addressing visitor observations, restorative-practices response, Title I parental involvement, class size, and field trips.
Diane, chair of the policy committee, presented the item and noted that the board packet included policy summaries and proposed language. The board voted to rescind Policy 5.100.8 (student travel) and Policy 6100.16 (student travel) and to approve Policies 13.61 (visitors and observations in the schools), 5.123 (restorative-practices response), 6080.1.2 (Title I parental involvement), 601.51 (class size) and 6.153 (field trips) as presented.
Motion and vote: The motions were moved, seconded and approved in separate votes during the meeting. The board will publish the revised policies and implement them in accordance with district policy timelines.
