Senior credits exchange year for choosing IB diploma, plans to study pharmacy abroad

Elise Falyan, a senior at JIKS High School, told meeting attendees that an exchange year in Germany led her to pursue the International Baccalaureate diploma and that she plans to study pharmacy at European University Cyprus.
Falyan said she is enrolled in the IB leadership pathway and described the international focus of the program as influential in her decision to pursue the diploma. “I went on an exchange year in Germany my sophomore year, and that kind of led me down the path of choosing the IB diploma program,” she said. “I was very interested in the international aspect of it.”
She said she expects to graduate with high honors and “believes I’ll have 31 credits,” and added, “then I should be graduating with my IB diploma.” She told listeners she intends to major in pharmacy at European University Cyprus.
Falyan urged other students to use the opportunities offered by pathway programs. “It's definitely important for students to take the opportunities provided by the pathway program,” she said.
There was no formal action recorded on the comments, which were delivered during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
