The Seven Hills City Council voted to table a moral-claim payment following discussion that members said required additional information.
During the finance report and subsequent discussion, council members expressed concern that a resident (or claimant) had not had adequate time to explain the matter and that there had been a transition in the engineering office that could affect the records. Council members requested more information, including correspondence and any applicable paper trail involving the former engineer and the contractor referred to as Set in Stone.
Councilman Elliott and others asked that administration gather communications and supporting documentation before the council decides to pay the moral claim. Councilman Elliott moved to table the item until the next meeting; the motion carried on roll call. The council record shows the claim was tabled and no payment was authorized at the May 27 meeting.
