The Seven Hills City Council adopted Resolution 2-2025 at its May 27 meeting, authorizing the mayor to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the City of Seven Hills, acting through its fire department, and the American Red Cross Northern Ohio Region.
The MOU establishes a framework for cooperation to provide smoke alarm installations and fire-safety education in the community. Mayor Biacietta said the program will work with the state fire marshal and the Red Cross under an initiative he referred to as Operation Safe Senior; he said smoke alarms will be provided upon request and details on participation would be published by midsummer.
Council Pro Tem Castanzo moved to suspend the rules and read the resolution by title for the final reading; the council then voted to adopt the resolution by roll call. The resolution was presented as enabling the fire department to cooperate with the Red Cross to deliver installations and education; program details, eligibility criteria and rollout dates will be provided by city administration in the coming weeks, the mayor said.
