ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. — The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors approved an outdoor events application from Holes Drive‑In on Tuesday allowing a scheduled concert series to run on select movie nights through October, subject to county rules and required safety plans.
County staff noted the application seeks a series of 12 events to be held on a stage constructed in front of the drive‑in movie screen, with live music scheduled to end by 8:30 p.m. on event nights. The events are proposed to occur prior to regularly scheduled movie screenings.
Sheriff McFadden and Fire & Rescue Chief Nathan Ramsey reviewed and signed off on the submitted medical and security plans, staff said. Rhianna Sheaf, executive director for Holes Drive‑In, attended the meeting to answer questions from the board.
Board members asked whether the approvals are annual; staff confirmed the drive‑in will need to reapply each year for outdoor event permission. The applicant said the first event in the series was scheduled to begin the coming weekend.
The board approved the application by motion and recorded votes; supervisors Lyons and Day voted in favor. One member of the board noted the required annual return for comparable future approvals and staff said the county will process the application accordingly.
