Committee forwards library/media and copyright updates, repeals procedural rule

The Waunakee Community School District Policy Committee voted to forward updates to library/media and educational-technology policies that incorporate Policy Reference Group (PRG) recommendations and modernize local rules.
Administrators and library/media co-chairs Sarah Wendorff and Cassie Roberts worked with the LEMTECH team to review three related pieces: adoption of PRG-recommended language, a revised local rule to reflect current instructional and media practices, and repeal of an older procedural Rule 2 that staff said is operational rather than policy-level. Presenters noted technology and reproducible-media types have changed substantially since the last policy review.
Committee members saw marked-up drafts and staff feedback from the LEMTECH team; staff said internal procedures will document the many platform- and media-specific steps now required and that Rule 2’s procedural detail is better kept in operations guidance rather than in board policy.
The committee moved the revisions to the full board for review and adoption.
