The Festus City Council on Tuesday approved Bill 48-21, creating a no-parking zone along the south side of the 200 block of Benton Drive and authorizing placement and enforcement of signs.
City staff reported they had received several resident complaints about parking on Benton Drive and commissioned Intuition Logic to review the section. The consultant recommended a no-parking designation on the south side because the north side of the street offers greater visibility, city staff said.
The council briefly discussed whether neighbors had already resolved the issue; one council member asked, "Didn't the neighbors kinda work it all out?" and a staff response indicated they had not. Council then suspended the rules and read the bill a second time in title only before adopting the ordinance.
No amendments or carryovers were requested during the meeting, and the clerk recorded affirmative votes that resulted in passage of Bill 48-21.
