The board adjusted enforcement for a separate case on Mill Street (Chad Mills) to align the daily penalty with the city ordinance, amending the prior $300-per-day figure to $250 per day; that motion also passed by voice vote. Members said they will follow up with legal staff to clarify what further actions (including city cleanup and liening of costs) are available once the ordinance cap is reached.
Discussion items the board asked staff to pursue included consulting the city attorney about court orders and clarifying which agency inspects interior health conditions versus municipal code violations. Board members asked the health department to evaluate whether piles of refuse constitute a public-safety or health hazard. Staff said municipal code (trash, junk and yard maintenance) is typically enforced by the city's code office, while the health department handles some interior or health-specific conditions; the board directed staff to coordinate across departments.
