County awards CH 146 culvert rehab contract to low bidder

The Minnehaha County Commission approved awarding a small culvert rehabilitation contract for County Highway 146 to First Rate Excavate Inc. after bids opened May 7, county highway staff told commissioners on May 20.
Assistant Highway Superintendent Jenna Girard presented the item and said the project on County Highway 146 (20th Street) between Veterans and 6 Mile Road involves removing eight sections of culvert on each side of the road, rebuilding bedding, reinstalling the culvert, installing riprap and regrading ditches.
Girard said three bids were received, there were "no bid anomalies," and staff recommended award to the low bidder, First Rate Excavate. The commission voted to approve the award.
No public comment was recorded on the item. The contract is authorized to be signed and work will proceed as scheduled.
