Applicants Brady and Whitney Johnson told council the shop will be locally owned, emphasize the building’s historic character and operate largely during morning hours: 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 7 a.m.–9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Staff said the site includes six on‑site parking spaces and that a parking plan was submitted; total required parking for the coffee shop was 9 spaces, per staff presentation.
Brady Johnson described the concept as place‑based and complementary to Main Street: "Landmark is more than a name. It's what we hope to become." The applicants said most peak customer demand will be 7–10 a.m., a time window that, they argued, will not add significant pressure to midday or evening parking and activity on Main Street.
Council and staff discussed outdoor seating (12 seats proposed under an existing canopy), the proposed furniture, and partnerships for wholesale pastries and roasting. No public opposition registered at the hearing. The council approved CU25‑12; planning staff recorded the vote as unanimous.
