Council approves $145,000 supplemental engineering contract for Chisholm Trail South improvements

Round Rock City Council approved a $145,000 supplemental engineering contract with Freese and Nichols Inc. to add design work for pedestrian improvements on the Chisholm Trail South Improvements O Town project.
Michael (staff member) told the council the supplemental contract will fund design of an at-grade sidewalk and extended culverts on the west side of the bridge to carry pedestrians across the creek. The work is intended to connect pedestrians from south to north and to allow the construction contractor (already awarded) to incorporate the improvements if schedules align.
"Our hope is that we can go in there and make some improvements to put the, extend the culverts on the west side at a surface, sidewalk," Michael said. He said the city will demobilize from the project at the November1 holiday period and remobilize in January to finish remaining work; if timing permits, the sidewalk piece will be added to the current contractor’s scope.
Brian Pham, assistant project manager with Freese and Nichols, attended the meeting. The council approved the resolution by roll call after a motion by Council member Ortega and a second by Council member Montgomery; the vote recorded yes from all members present.
