Walton County’s Tactical Review Committee on May 21 recommended conditional approval of an amended development order for Watersound Beach Club North that adds 91 parking spaces and associated site improvements, subject to final stormwater review and director approval.
The applicant, Watersound Beach Club, LLC, submitted a revised site plan that removed one parcel from the project and reduced proposed parking from 112 spaces to 91. The application, filed by O'Connell and Associates Consulting, includes a gated ingress entrance with a guard shack, a shuttle stop, upgrades to a gravel storage area and associated infrastructure on about 2.47 acres in District 5 (146 Dune Drift Lane). Staff noted the redesign and said the stormwater reviewer (DRMP) would need to re-review stormwater changes and that the health department had not provided comments in the staff report.
John Nash of Conroe Associates Consulting Engineers said the revised parking lot is entirely on the client’s property and the stormwater pond remained largely unchanged. Staff recommended conditional approval and forwarding to the director; the committee moved, seconded and approved the recommendation by voice vote with an “aye” and no recorded opposition. Director issuance will remain contingent on any pending reviewer signoffs.
