A member of the council's legislative committee reported to the council that the city is proactively tracking bills filed for the Texas legislative session and pursuing funding for the Exide property cleanup.
The councilmember said the legislative committee has been meeting with state representatives about Frisco priorities as bills are filed. The councilmember reported that "Senator Springer before he left, was kind enough to put into the budget request for Exide property cleanup funding," and that representatives Patterson and Shaheen have committed to helping sponsor the request on the House side.
The councilmember said the city hopes to see Exide funding this legislative year after not receiving it in the prior session and that staff will provide updates as the session progresses.
Ending: The legislative committee will continue monitoring bills and coordinating with representatives; no formal council action was taken at the meeting.
