Parks and Recreation delays master plan open house, showcases large play mural and adopt-a-park launch

Play Frisco Director Shannon Coates told the City Council the parks department will reschedule its master plan open house and highlighted new programs and public art.
Coates said the open house date was moved and staff were now targeting January 23 for the master plan open house. She described a new teacher-led program at the heritage museum with interactive materials (a history detective guide and decoder ring) and a large public-art play wall that "is 11 foot by 65 feet long" that pays homage to Texas wildlife.
Coates also said the department will launch an adopt-a-park program in January to expand volunteer participation and that staff created a stormwater pollution prevention training for park staff; 28 staff completed the training.
Ending: Councilmembers thanked staff and asked no additional questions; staff offered to provide the confirmed open-house date once finalized.
