Commission approves $500,000 land payment for public sale building; OKs pickup purchase and picnic pavilion funding

The Dunn County Commission voted to finalize a $500,000 payment and sign the deed for land purchased to build a public sale building on the Dvorak property.
County finance staff presented the purchase documents and asked the commission to authorize signing the deed and distributing funds. A motion to approve the deed and the $500,000 payment carried on roll call.
Separately, the county approved a weed department request to purchase a new pickup. County staff said funds are available in the federal mineral-money line in the current budget. The board authorized the department to proceed without a firm purchase price at the meeting; staff will return with the selected vehicle and final cost.
Parks staff proposed a covered picnic pavilion at the Little Mo picnic/boat ramp area to expand day-use amenities. The commission accepted competitive bids and approved $43,968 in funding for the pavilion, to be paid from general-purpose tax (GPT) dollars.
The commission also approved assessor-services contracts: the county will continue to provide assessing and equalization services to the cities of Halliday, Dunn Center and Dodge at $2,000 per city. County staff said contracts were reviewed by the state's attorney and will be billed after equalization.
Commissioners said they expect staff to return with vendor quotes and follow-up documents as projects move from authorization to procurement and construction.
