Marshall board approves new custodial services contract, current staff may apply for roles

Marshall — Marshall Public Schools on May 19 approved a three-year custodial services contract intended to provide upgraded equipment, predictable rates and improved cleaning efficiency.
Administration recommended a change of provider effective July 1, 2025; the administration said the new contractor offers predictable annual adjustments and upgraded equipment. During discussion the board asked whether current employees would be able to apply for positions; Jared Donnel, identified as representing Fox Utility Services, said existing custodial staff would be able to apply, receive training and be considered for hire by the incoming contractor.
Board members noted the change carries transition risk because custodial staff have established relationships with students and teachers. Administration said the vendor will provide training and that the new contract includes fixed costs over three years. The board approved the motion (moved by Shauna Gamble, supported by Lauren Brown) by voice vote.
